day-3: When in Taiwan [Chiang Kai Shek – Ecole – Hello Kitty Cafe – Shilin]

day-3: When in Taiwan [Chiang Kai Shek – Ecole – Hello Kitty Cafe – Shilin]

day-3, Friday 29 Jan 2016, again, it was raining all day long! (´-ω-`)

The sky was very dark this morning. Although the weather outside was only 12°C, but it was windy and the rain wouldn’t stop. I just hope my flu wouldn’t come back. (¬_¬;)

We were still tired of the long journey yesterday at Jiufen & Shifen, but we both knew we must continue our holiday, following our itinerary. So we dragged 1 hour from our itinerary, had our breakfast at level 12, then we took MRT down to CKS Memorial Hall Station, red/green line.

Our first stop this morning was Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall [中正纪念堂].  is a Taiwanese national monument, landmark and tourist attraction erected in memory of Chiang Kai-shek, former President of the Republic of China. It is located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, Taiwan. The design, by architect Yang Cho-cheng, placed the main building at the east end of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Park, covering over 240,000 square metres in Zhongzheng District. A main gate, the Gate of Great Centrality and Perfect Uprightness [大中至正]  was placed at the west end on Chung Shan South Road, with a Gate of Great Loyalty [大忠门]  standing at the north side on Hsin Yi (Xinyi) Road and a Gate of Great Piety [大孝门] standing at the south side on Ai Kuo (Aiguo) East Road. A Boulevard of Homage, bordered by manicured bushes, connected the main hall with the square.

I love these buildings, but too bad the sky was too dark so I couldn’t take a perfect picture with a blue sky.

We didn’t go inside the CKS Memorial Hall because we must save energy to finish our holiday. So after took a lot of pictures, we headed to our next stop. We walked back to CKS Station, took the red line to Daan Park Station.

Walked out from Daan Park MRT Station, I saw this bicycle park ready for rent just before Daan Park Entrance. But I gave up the rent-a-bike idea, since the rain wouldn’t stop and it would caused so much trouble to go cycling and holding umbrella. (;⌣̀_⌣́)

From the exit of Daan Park MRT Station, walked all the way down to south following the main street of Section 2, Xinsheng Road. Ecole Coffee Shop located at Lane 75 Yongkang Street. We enjoyed the long walk with umbrella above our head, down to the café. ( ◡‿◡ *)

CYMERA_20160212_155119a refreshing ecole hot tea–with a bit of lemon grass!

Ecole [學校咖啡館] means ‘school’ in French. There was a bookshelf in the middle of the cafe, most of them written in Chinese, but some of them written in English and French. I found some good books but unfortunately those books were not for sale. ( ̄ヘ ̄)

Since we were ahead our schedule for about an hour, we did take our time enjoying our brunch here. We ordered the superb sausages served with green sauce–which I suspect it was probably spinach? I also ordered a hot tea which came with a refreshing lemon grass perfect for cold weather like this. Aside from the free wifi, we did enjoy the peaceful ambient here. (´。• ᵕ •。`)

After an hour or so, we made a move, continued our journey to Hello Kitty café in the city area. Walked back to Daan Park MRT station, we took MRT to Zhongxiao Fushing station, brown line. Surprisingly it wasn’t difficult to find that pinky café. Head along Da’an Road for about 150m from Zhongxiao Fushing exit and look out for a pink signboard on your right-hand side. (´。• ᵕ •。`)

CYMERA_20160211_145732oh so pinky!! ほんとうにかわいいですね ~!!!

We arrived at Hello Kitty Kitchen And Dining (凱蒂貓餐廳) after lunch hour, so it wasn’t too crowded. Everywhere we looked were all so pinky; interior, furniture, foods and drinks; very girlie and super cute. Please note that minimum order here was 300NTD. But the food itself already above 300NTD each. To be honest, the taste wasn’t superb. But they made effort for the presentation. They were all too cute to be eaten! ☆*:.。.o(≧▽≦)o.。.:*☆

After we finished our late lunch, we continued with our next stop. According to our itinerary, we supposed to go Shilin Presidential Official Residence to catch the plum blossom there. But unfortunately it was already 4:30pm by the time we arrived at Shilin MRT Station. We had to walk for about 200m from the station, and we were worried if the residence would closed by the time we arrived there. We didn’t see any plum blossom so far in Taiwan, so we were not sure if they had plum blossom there anyway. ( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ

So we decided to go Shilin Night Market since we were already around the area. To make it short, here we shopped a lot. I didn’t take any single picture here since I was too busy hoping around from one store to another. The only picture my friend took was this cheesy potato ball which was real good! It was warm, cheesy and very nice! ♡\( ̄▽ ̄)/♡

Before we left Shilin, we stopped at a foot massage along the way back to Shilin MRT Station. The massage was really nice and our foot was instantly refreshed! We then went back to Ximending and continue our shopping time at Ximending Night Market. <( ̄︶ ̄)>

Ximending night market was crowded as usual. There were quite a lot of hotels around this area, so you can shop ’til you drop here. <( ̄︶ ̄)>

ok. I guess that was all for my 3rd day in Taiwan. I hope no rain for tomorrow. じゃね!\(^▽^)/

つづく。。。
